Whether you've upgraded to a new device, have iAnnotate on multiple devices or just need to move your iAnnotate documents from one device to another, this article will guide you through the process of moving your documents.
Documents saved locally in iAnnotate are not included in iCloud backups and therefore not available if you set up a new device via iCloud back up.
To transfer documents from one device to another, please follow the method outlined below.
If you are using iAnnotate version 4 (any version that starts with a 4) here is the most efficient way to migrate documents from one iPad/iPhone to another:
-
Add a cloud storage connection to iAnnotate on the original device, ie GoogleDrive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.: How do I add storage connections to iAnnotate?
-
Copy documents stored locally in iAnnotate to the cloud storage: How to Transfer, Move, or Copy Files between Storage Locations
-
Install iAnnotate on the new iPad: If you’re logged in with the same Apple ID on your new device as the old device, you’ll be able to see iAnnotate 4 available for download in the purchased section of your app store.
Here's how to access this:
-
Open the App Store
-
Tap your account icon in the top right
-
Tap “Purchased.”
-
search for iAnnotate
-
Tap the cloud with arrow icon to re-download the app.
-
-
Add the cloud storage connection to iAnnotate on the new iPad. Same instructions as 1 above: How do I add storage connections to iAnnotate?
All documents will now be available via the cloud connection in iAnnotate.
If you are using iAnnotate PDF v3 or lower then please see the information here:
