# RESOLVED: BUG: Navigation Panel (Four Grey Squares) icon causing the app to crash
## This bug has been resolved and fixed by way of update to version 4.8.21. Please update your app.
### Important information regarding a bug introduced in the 4.8.20 update causing the app to crash when the navigation panel icon (the four grey squares) is tapped.
In the recent 4.8.20 update, a bug was introduced causing the app to crash when the navigation panel icon (the four grey squares) is tapped. Our engineering team has identified the source of the issue and is actively working on a fix.
Please note, this bug is NOT resolved by offloading or deleting and reinstalling the app. We will resolve this problem through an app update.
As a temporary solution, we recommend adding a toolbar shortcut, which has proven to be effective for some users. You can create shortcuts for each tab in the navigation panel by adding one or all of the tools according to your workflow needs.
Your options are:
- **Pages**- to view the thumbnail images of the pages in your document
- **Outline & Bookmarks**- shows the bookmarks or outline of the document
- **Notes**- shows all annotations (except bookmarks) in the document
Here are the steps to add the tools to your toolbar:
1\. From document view, tap the toolbox icon on the top of the toolbar to enter the toolbar editing mode.
2\. If your toolbar is full, you will need to remove a tool or create a new toolbar.
- To remove a tool: tap and hold and drag an unused tool from the toolbar off the toolbar.
- To add a new toolbar: tap the "+" at the top of the toolbar and select "new custom toolbar"
3\. Tap the "view" tab.
4\. Choose one of the tools from the tool menu, for example notes, and drag it to your toolbar.
