After the recent iOS 18 update we have identified an issue with some of the tool customization pop-up boxes dismissing before the customization can be selected.
The engineering team is currently addressing this bug and will release a fix in an upcoming update. In the meantime, you can use the following steps as alternative methods for changing the color of the tool. Both methods are shown in a video below and we use the pencil as an example. This method will also work for any other tool.
Method 1: Long tap on the tool on the toolbar before use.
- Long tap on the tool icon on the tool bar.
- The customization menu will pop-up.
- Choose the color or preferred customization and tap "done"
Method 2: Use the tool then change the color
- select the tool from the toolbar
- Annotate your page and tap the the check mark when finished.
- Tap the annotation to make it editable.
- Tap the color square from the annotation specific menu in the upper right.
- Choose the color or preferred customization and tap "done"
Note: You cannot change the color during the initial use of the tool You must first "finish" the annotation by tapping the check mark. If you try to select the color option during initial use the menu will disappear.
